How to get here (public transport):

  • International airports are in Chennai, Bangalore, Cochin and Trivandrum, all some 400 km away.
    Regional airports with limited international connections are in Madurai, Trichy and Coimbatore.
  • The nearest major train station is in Dindigul (23 km) has connections with a.o. Chennai (7-8 hours), Bangalore (9h), Madurai (2h), Trivandrum and even Mumbai (33h).
  • Head for Sempatti, which is a bus-hub near Dindigul, with connections from Chennai (9 hours), Trichy (2½h), Tanjavur (4h), Dindigul (½h), Madurai (Arrapalayam bus stand, 1h), Salem (4½h), Kodaikanal (3½h), Coimbatore (5h), Palani (1½h) and Periyar (4h).
  • There are irregular busses from Dindigul and Sempatti to Athoor. Bus numbers: 7A and 9A.
  • From Sempatti or Athoor you go by taxi / autoriksha (Rs 300 / Rs 200) to Double Dutch Resort. Tell the driver: Athoor Kamaraja Lake or Athoor Dam or Sadiyandi Temple or Holland House or "bungalows near Athoor lake".
  • You can also take a taxi directly from Dindigul or Madurai (Rs 700 / Rs 2250).

How to get here (by private car / taxi):

  • From Dindigul take NH45/SH36 direction Bathalagundu/Theni/Kodaikanal.
  • In Sempatti at the miniature roundabout take the road to to the right to Palani and Coimbatore.
  • After about 1 km take the road left to Athoor.
    Continue past the paddy fields to the village of Athoor. You will go over a couple of vicious speed-breakers set some 50 meters apart as you enter the village.
    Soon after that you will see the village square on your right hand. Go straight

    From here on you can follow these signs.

  • About 750 meters after passing the village square, at a bus stand, you make a sharp right. The Thaluk Office is on your right side.
  • After just 50 meter turn left in the direction of Akkaraipatti village.
    The back of a big church, behind a compound wall, is now on your right hand.
  • Soon you cross a bridge and 50 meters further, at the entrance of Akkaraipatti village, you turn left following the posts.
    Just before the main road bearing to the right you find a signpost on your left hand. Follow the sign, which means go straight.
    After driving another 3km you pass the small Sadiyandi temple under big banyan trees; just go straight ahead.

    Turn 180 degrees to the left, drive down into the parking place. You have reached Double Dutch Resort.
